The Richardson Cattle Company Way
RCC is a 3rd generation ranching family, and while most of our ranching days were spent in New Mexico, our roots run deep in Texas. In 1987, while living in Odessa, Texas, Jimmy and Linda Richardson along with Jimmy's parents, Charles and Jimmi Lou decided to buy a ranch on the outskirts of the Chihuahua Desert in Carlsbad, New Mexico. At that time, full time ranching was not in the forefront of their minds. However, as the years progressed, Jimmy and Linda felt the call to leave Odessa, and buy the headquarters ranch and move out to Carlsbad. So, in 1996 Richardson Cattle Company became a full time operation. We started off with raising Red Angus, Hereford, and Beefmaster cattle. Jimmy soon realized that they were not grading well and made the switch to the Black Angus breed.
We then found Gardiner Angus out of Ashland, Kansas (see video below of Jimmy being interviewed by Mark Gardiner) and so began our journey with high quality genetics in the Black Angus breed. In 2012, Clay, Lauren and their family made the cross country move from Ohio to Carlsbad to begin ranching alongside Clay's parents. Knowing that the ranch needed some longevity and sustainability with Clay and his family now ranching full time, RCC advanced into AI and Embryo Transfer in order to produce the top of the line cattle that we wanted. After 30 years in New Mexico, God called us to do something we never imagined would happen.....move back to Texas. Moving in itself is hard work, but moving a 30 year old ranching business seemed near impossible. But in 2019, God landed RCC in Eastland County, Texas where rain is more abundant and the coastal fields are knee high. By Gods provisions, we managed to move our herd of cattle and families and have began to plant our roots in the great state of Texas.
Jimmy and Linda's daughter, Kelly Brimer, with her husband Brett and daughter Edie have been involved in our ET program since 2015. They have relocated to Rising Star to manage the livestock and property there. We continue to pride ourselves in gentle high quality cattle. We have also maintained our AI and Embryo program and have now began to showcase some of our cattle in Texas Angus Sales. Our cattle are also still available through private treaty for both commercial and registered herds.
If you have been with us from the beginning, thanks for sticking around; and if you are new here, welcome to our RCC Adventures.... We hope you enjoy the show!
